And 2morrow

Today is filled with anger
fueled with hidden hate
scared of being outcast
afraid of common fate
Today is built on tragedies
which no one wants 2 face
nightmares 2 humanities
and morally disgraced
Tonight is filled with rage
violence in the air
children bred with ruthlessness
because no one at home cares
Tonight I lay my head down
but the pressure never stops
knawing at my sanity
content when I am dropped
But 2morrow I c change
a chance 2 build a new
Built on spirit intent of Heart
and ideals
based on truth
and tomorrow I wake with second wind
and strong because of pride
2 know I fought with all my heart 2 keep my
dream alive

Tupac Shakur

This poem is by the famous rapper Tupac Shakur: I chose this poem because I like what he talks about in his poetry and his music. This poem is also an AB poem, four line stanzas, it tells how he feels, and what he is thinking. The first four lines are what he thinks is going on in the world, or more so where he lives at his community. In the next lines he talks about the tragedies going on, and says no one wants to face them. In the middle of his poem he is talking about the community where he lives at, and it could be either Los Angeles or New York City. “Tonight is filled with rage violence in the air he’s speaking on the gang war or even just violence that happens where he comes from. It could be violence over drugs or the police brutality in the late 80’s. When he says children bred with ruthlessness because no one at home cares, this he is speaking from his own experience his real dad was never in his life, his step father was a street hustler, and his mother was always on the move because she was part of the Black Panthers when Tupac was growing up.
“Tonight I lay my head down but the pressure never stops,” here Tupac is either saying even if you try to not think about something, try to forget something; it’s all going to be the same unless you change that something/ or he is saying the pressure is him striving for greatness and the best of his ability. The last nine lines are what this rapper/poetry writer is known for; he is all about doing better and making things better. Built of spirit intent of Heart and ideals based on truth and tomorrow I wake with second wind and strong because of pride. He has a lot of pride and goes in depth, he wants everyone and everything to b equal, and he is not going to stop he has to keep his dream alive.
This is Tupac and his poetry not song lyrics. He is dead now and many people think he was just some gangster rapper that use foul language and wanted to fight all the time. He was actually very talented and alone with these talents he was also a screen writer and a producer.
